7 Deadly Sins Series
This first series uses color slide projections paired with the model and props to convey the 7 deadly sins in a fabricated reality setting. The use of projections forces us to question the qualifications of a "deadly sin," as they are defined by religion and society. Would we still consider the model as gluttonous if the image of other food items was not projected onto her? Is it a sin because we believe it to be so, or because others have projected it to be?
Behold
This series deals with conflicting conceptions of beauty in the breakdown as well as beauty in the ritual. While the model is shown to be more beautiful once broken down into her natural state, the actions and processes of putting on makeup can also be viewed as beautiful. Both scenarios present an idea that the true state of beauty exists when it is unattempted or unacknowledged, which poses the question: can beauty exist without a beholder?
Kendra's passion for art began at a young age, starting with art classes at 6 years old. She has been trained in numerous forms of media, including pastels, charcoal, watercolor, oil paint, acrylic paint, black and white photography, and color photography.
Using vibrant colors and appealing to aesthetics, Kendra's paintings seek to mesmerize the viewer while reflecting her personal interests. Her style is constantly evolving as she receives inspiration from countless sources. Kendra's photography captures her curious nature, focusing her eye on the things that go unnoticed or depicting things that go overly noticed in ways never seen before.
